87 Divided by 5

That was the question once the carrot cake’s candles had been lit.  Grandma Dot wondered how many years each candle represented.  For some strange reason everyone looked at me. (Check your own answer at the end of this post).

We celebrated Grandma Dot’s 87th birthday this last Sunday and had a great host to join in the festivities including Freesia and Jordan who were up visiting from Escondido.

During the evening, Noah recited one of his recent favorite songs, the ABC song.  Grandpa Art joined in on a few stanzas so I decided to issue a challenge.  I told Grandpa, as I sat beside him on the couch, that if he could name all 26 letters in order I would give him a kiss.  Anyone who knows Grandpa would understand how motivational this would be.

I kissed him anyway.

The answer is 17 and 2/5 or 17.4 for the fractionally-challenged.
