This post is the second installment from our day at the Cabrillo National Monument on Point Loma in San Diego.
After exploring the area up on the ridge, including the lighthouse, we headed down to the tide pools along the shore. There is a trail that runs along the shore and we hiked most of it. I estimate we walked more than a mile round trip. As you will see in the pictures, we even encountered a baby rattlesnake that finally slithered out of our way. It couldn’t have been longer than a foot.
We also saw what must have been like 50 pelicans either floating on the water or diving from the air down into the water. We are sure there must have been something to eat but we couldn’t tell what it was even though they were very close to the shore.
There were a few boats anchored very close to the shore and we imagined how fun and relaxing it would be to be in one of those boats like that.
